Roots will go through anything, especially rocks. The best thing might to get some cement drain pipe and place the pipe in it or pour a three sided trench channel, place the pipe, then fill in with backfill and pour a cap slab of concrete no more than 2" thick. This is certainly extreme, but will be the second best defense against the trees second only to removing the trees. You can get the precast concrete drain pipe from a concrete precast manufacturer in your area. A short term solution would be to have a rooter company come out and clear the line. This would last perhaps a year or two.
