: I just snaked the clog in my shower drain (historic house w/ galavanized pipes built in 1916). It's running fine now, but there is always some standing water below the drain cover, even though it no longer backs up. is this normal?

There better be standing water in your shower drain. That standing water is what keeps sewer gas and smells from entering the home. Terry
