my advice is not an assumption though I would suggest having it checked out by a licensed plumber to verify the fact.


: : : I just moved into a new home, and the hot water heater periodically "knocks" while the water is running. It is very loud and I can hear it in other rooms. This is an older gas heater from Sears (40 gal I think) and that's all I know. Is it about to die on me or is it something like air in the tank? Thanks!

: : your water heater has mineral build up in the bottom. It is not a dangerous condition. sometimes draining it can help but not very often. invest in a new water heater if it is that old, it may be worth the peace and quiet.
