Sure could use some input here. My mom lives in a mobile home of ours, we live right up the street. She had water when she got up this morning and either the pump (well) or the motor died. Its a Howard single phase induction motor Model#4861300051 on a Jacuzzi pump #5RP2. The motor tries to start but just hums for about 10 seconds then stops. We tried cleaning the contacts on the Pumptrol thingie (relay? I don't know what it's called ) to no avail. My husband has worked a ten hour day already and I don't expect him home for at least a couple more hours and I'd really like to try and take care of this myself rather than have him have to look at it after working all day. (Which he will if I don't fix it, because it's my mom living there) Any idea if it sounds electrical or like the problems in the actual pump?
