I need a larger pressure tank for the system. Can I increase my main from 3/4" to 1" when I change the tank without changing my pump?

You can always make the pipes larger. Friction loss hampers water volumn. Sizing the pipes bigger helps.
If you have less than 40 PSI at the pump, and more than two baths, you may want to upgrade to 1-1/4" or 1-1/5" water service.
