|In response to Re: INSTALLING A WATER SOFTNER|
: We have been given a Culligan salt water softner
: system. What is the basics on installing this
: system and how do they work?
The basic thing to do first is find the hardness of the water. some softners may not be the right size for your hardness. culligan has different sizes for high hardness areas. next step is to make sure you have a drain ready for the softner. there is an inlet and out let. make sure your out side hydrants are before the softner and you may want a hard water outlet for drinking water at the kitchen. after running the drain to a p trap with an air gap plug it in. knowing the hardness and the amount of people in the home set the regeneration days. then set the time of day and set it to regenerate at 2 am. Unless your softner is all automatic. put salt in the brine tank and enjoy.Dale's Plumbing Service Inc. LMP
