Murphy you should be more careful in making those assumptions. It's not necesarily build up and it could be dangerous situation. : : I just moved into a new home, and the hot water heater periodically "knocks" while the water is running. It is very loud and I can hear it in other rooms. This is an older gas heater from Sears (40 gal I think) and that's all I know. Is it about to die on me or is it something like air in the tank?
