You replace cast iron pipe with ABS pipe. I'm assuming this pipe that goes up through the attic is a vent. You should break out the slab and place the pipe in the slab and then patch it. It's not as difficult as it sounds and you will probably like the finished product better. You can connect the ABS pipe to the cast iron by having the cast iron threaded and then connect an ABS adapter (preferred), or use a rubber connecting sleeve with band clamps, similar to a radiator clamp.
