Hi Wendy: There are 2 methods that I use to remove cast iron. The first one is with the use of a specialty tool called a soil pipe cutter. Its doesn't actually cuts the pipe, but rather snaps the pipe.Without experience, it can be a rather tricky tool to use. The second method is using a sawzall or reciprocating saw to cut through the pipe. I recommend using tungsten blades designed for cutting cast iron. This method takes longer than the first method, but is good when getting into tight places. Marty
Hi can you give me any good advice on how to go about removing old cast iron plumbing. The house we bought is 50 years old.
