: house about five years ago, and used what was then called schedule 40 pvc pipe. It was gray in color.

If your water is hard, I would go with the plastic pipes. PVC would be fine. No need for CPVC since this is a cold water line only. If water is balanced, then copper may be the way to go. Terry
