In response to Re: screwing down Wonderboard

: We are laying a new tile floor for the dining room. We bought Wonderboard, which is suppossed to be the same as duroc, and we got the "Rock-On" screws that was recommended for the wonderboard. We are having a very hard time getting the screws started and having them go in deep enough. Is there a special technique, or a special tip for the drill/screwdriver???We are using a #2 Phillips as recommended. The Wonderboard is on top of 3/4 inch plywood, medium grade. Please advise, I cannot bear to think of trying to do the whole floor this way, there just has to be a better way to do it.

My favorite tool for that is a drywall screw gun. This is a corded drill with a flush-stop to adjust how far in the screw goes. The replacable bit tips for the number 2's can be replaced cheaply as they wear out. With these puppies, you can lean on it. Terry
