: We have a three story home and our pipes knock whenever any of the plumbing is used. The only time they don't knock is with the washing maching and sink in the basement, outside hoses or dishwasher. It gets better if we run all of the water out of the pipes, but the effect doesn't last. We have had a plumber out once, but his comment was that the only way to find the source was to go into the walls. We would really like to try anything that might fix it ourselves first. Thanks in advance for any advice you might have. CJ

I installed arrestors to my washing machine. We still have the banging pipes even when the washing machine changes cycles. I have turned off the water to the ice maker on our fridge, but
it hasn't helped. Do I continue to install arrestors at my fridge and dishwasher until I find the problem, or could it be caused by something else? Also, can they all be installed by me or will I have to hire a plumber to come in and put them in? Your site is awesome!!!!
