It appears that the one thing that is not happening is to get the surface completely clean. And a water based cauld will often wash away when in contact with water. Try a silicone based caulk. : Since putting in a new tubsurround a couple weeks ago we have caulked and recaulked the tub 3 times with 2 different brands of water based, mildew resistant caulk and it keeps washing away. Then we bought a plastic stripping that is to be used as bathtub caulking but it refuses to stick. We have left each application set for a minimum of 10 hours which should have been plenty of time...what are we doing wrong?
