|In response to Re: Replacing tile for marble in a shower and need help.|
The company that molds the shower floor would provide the proper drain. You cannot use a pan since you need a flat sill that a wheel chair can roll over.
: We have a non-standard shower (built for a wheelchair), with tile walls and tile floor. We want to replace the tile with cultured marble. I was told by a local installer that we should not use the tile drain if we put in a cultured marble floor because it will eventually leak. Instead, we should use a compression drain or molded shower pan. What does this mean? Would it be better to simply replace the existing tile floor? What is the difference between a base and a pan? Also, should we rip out the wall tile before the marble goes on, or can it go over the existing wall tiles? Thank you.
