You would have to contact your city building departmene. At the very least they should have used greenboard, but the better material would be cement board which is a grey color. The mud method of setting the tile is the best way rather than gluing it on.
: I am having my bathroom remodeled (after termite damage). They are putting in a new tile shower. A friend told us that it is required to use greenwall, not drywall in a shower. What the contractor is doing is putting on a "mud" with a wire mesh over the drywall (looks kind of like dark concrete) and then they have cemented the tiles to this concrete looking base. Do you know if this is acceptable construction - or where I find out what the building codes require?
