Soft Close Lid bangs into tank

Hello,
I just installed a new Toto Drake with a Softclose lid. Everything went well except the lid snaps back and bangs into the tank when someone gets up from the seat. Has anyone else had this problem or is this normal?

I've tried re-installing the seat several times but can't eliminate this snap back issue. Appreciate the help.
