Air in water system

Have a 20 yr old well that was working fine, recently I'm getting a lot of air in the pipes thruout the whole house and very violent at times. I was told to try disconnecting my water softener to see if that helped , but that did nothing. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

What type of pump and pressure tank?

Any odor in the water?

Is the water discolored?

I am guessing it is a Galv tank that needs a new Air Volume Controller.
