yes , generally we see them in older homes behind secret panels,, in closet accessess... all sorts of fun places...

as long as the water company has the remote wire on it and they can read it from outside they probably dont care one bit......

why do anything right, go ahead and simply
panel over that water meter....hide it completely

its much more sporting for the next fellow trying to figure out where it is years from now...

Our water meters are at the street.

Last year, I did that job with the mean barking dog, so the day it snowed, the dog was in the garage with the house shutoff.
The meter was under snow.
I never did find the meter that day.
And the dog never let me in the garage.
So, I had to pack up the tools and leave.



And then the homeowner complains on Angie's that the plumber took longer.
If the dog was small and cute, the job would have gotten done right away.
The house I plumbed on the Middle Fork of the Snoqualmie had better mannered wolves then this old mean German Shepperd.
The wolves were not even tied up, and I worked there five days straight until the job was finished.
I think I like wolves better.

Well, today in Seattle, the dog I met was real nice.

I went to replace a lead bend for $350
The big phone book ad plumber had quoted $2300
But he does have coupons that offer $50 off on plumbing jobs.

$2300 lol wow..... You could come in @ $850 and still look like a hero. Sometimes the prices you guys talk about on here blow me away! I'm jealous I couldn't get away with charge $2300 for anything other then a fairly large job with a decent amount of material!

The reason he is charging you $2,300.00 is to cover the costs of the dope, flux, and pipe you take. He is not the "dummy" you think he is. He is leaving things out for you to "lift" and adding them to the bill.

WE once worked in a house with a Doberman Pinscher. He let us bring anything we wanted to INTO the house, but when we were done and started to take things back to the truck, that was a no-no, so we had to wait until the owner came home to let Rover know it was okay.
