New drain install question?

Bwv

One of the "nice" things about relocating the BWV is that it can ONLY be moved downstream closer to the main city sewer. I think this means that no matter WHERE you moved it it will still be under the shower, unless you want to do a major repiping job. If you moved it back from under the shower, then any backflow would come out of your shower and flood the basement even if your backwater valve worked, (which they seldom do).

Thanks for the input! I have the plumber scheduled for the morning to take a look. If it can't be moved I am thinking of building a custom shower base (pan) instead of acrylic and putting a small bench seat that the lid is some how removed if needed to accsess the the back water valve. The valve is in the back corner. I would have to frame in the bench before I would mud the base. Any one try this before? (removable lid)

As long as the back water valve is EASILY accessible you should be ok. Being a service plumber I kindly ask that you leave a good around of space to get at the BWV if someone ever needed too. :D
