Hello, purchsed forclosed home and it contains a fleck 9000 series water softener. It of course came with ZERO literature to tell me how to use!

It seems to be working fine and I'm not having any problems with it other than it seems to using waaay too much salt! There are only 2 of us living in the house we just don't use that much water. Yet, I'm going through 6 forty lbs bags of salt every 5 weeks or so. Is this right?? Seems like alot.

I've tried to figure out the settings/dials to adjust but don't really have a clue. Is there a simple way to adjust the unit for a slower rate of regeneration?

If anyone could give me a couple of steps to try it'd be mucho appreciated.

You need current water tests of the raw water (before the softener) for hardness, and if you have your own well, iron and manganese (if you can get a test for manganese and if not that's OK). Then you need to do some calculations based on your family size.

Then you use the manual to program the control valve for the best salt efficiency for the capacity you need.
