My entry, hall, and living room were covered in venetian plaster by the previous owner. I hate that stuff. Contacted Sherwin Williams who said to sand with a 220 grit sand paper and then prime with their alkyd oil based primer. Today I sanded and primed the hallway. My house is now covered in fine plaster dust and the SW primer made me sick to my stomach.

Zinsser claims their B-I-N primer will prime cured plaster without sanding. Has anyone used it for this? The smell of the Zinsser product does not make me sick either. The plaster used was Valspar so it's not true Venetian plaster.

Thanks

That will work fine, as will many other oil based primers, including the regular Zinsser 1-2-3 oil primer.
