I am running a 2" drain pipe from a shower drain to a 4" cast iron toilet drain. There was no room to run the drain to the main vent stack, so it is connected to the toilet drain pipe. Does the wye have to be at least 45 degrees vertical? Or is horizontal ok?

Horizontal or higher is fine. There must also be a vent between the shower trap and where the line turns down to meet the other drain.
