Every plumber deals with this. You are all done with the new toilet installation, and the last thing is snapping the caps on over the closet bolts. But wait! They don't fit. Some bean counter has decided that it is so much better on their bottom line to make them just a little short. It's not a big deal to have the plumber waste his time cutting and snapping the bolts shorter so that the caps can be made just so. I have seen some caps that are taller, and kudos to them. I would now love to see all caps a little taller. Is anybody listening out there?

As you can see, the cap is just a little short.

I've moved over to the nylon bolts. They stand upright pretty well and they cut easily. If you have to cut steel bolts, it takes 123 strokes with a close-quarter saw. Each side. Wears me out.

By the way, I think it's kohler that make a tall cap. Has a three wing nut that screws on the bolt, and the cap snaps onto that. Doesn't thread onto my plastic bolts, though.
