Well pump runs until gauge reads 65 PSI. It does not shut off and continues to run for about 10 minutes. Now, when using water (warm or cold), pressure continues to drop with use and the pump will not come on. Turning the water on and then watching the gauge, it will slowly drop to about 20-25 psi and then instantly nose dives to nothing. All water in the house shuts off. It takes a few minutes and the pump will turn on and begin to build pressure. This process takes a few minutes to build to 65 psi but it then stays at 65 psi while continuing to run for an additional 10 minutes or so. Repeat the process. The tank is a well rite WR60r and the pump a smith corp. What can I do to fix this - thanks.

Sounds like a bad pressure switch or a clogged nipple leading to the pressure switch.

Fix that, and set the air precharge in the pressure tank to 2 PSI below the cut on pressure. Precharge is set while the water pressure is zero.
