We inherited a house and yesterday after the snow melted we noticed water running from the floor well pump casing. The house now has city water but did originally have a well. What would be the best method to correct this problem?

It could be the water level in the well is so high it is flowing over the casing. You really should plug and seal that well if you are not going to use it. But I would disconnect from the city water and go back to the well. Well water is usually better quality than city water and cost much less. A well also gives you control of your own destiny. A city could shut your water off if you don't pay the new taxes, turn your guns in, or obey any other law they want to force on you.
