I have any old galvanized pressure tank serviced by a new submersible pump. A loud chattering sound starts up when the pump activates at 30 psi, then stops at about 35, then starts up again at about 45 until the switch turns off at 50. Can anyone tell me what's going on?

See if you can pinpoint the location of the chatter. It may be the pressure switch opening and closing when the pressure nears cutin and cutout pressures. If so, you may need to relocate the switch sensing line.
