I bought my house approx. three years ago and due to problems my neighbor
is having I now have questions: How can I find out if I have a drilled well or a wellpoint? I was told it is illegal to sell a home with just a well point.
I have silt coming into the house, is this normal? Thank you, Mark

well head? do you mean the cement cover? Or the pipe coming into the pump?
My pump is in my basement and the well is out a ways from my house.

So are you saying silt should not be coming in? is this more then just putting a filter setup inline or is something else amiss?

well

A drilled well will have a 4" to 6" steel pipe casing with a cover and the pipe coming through it. A point will just be a pipe sticking into the ground.

If you have a cement cover, you may have a Well Pit. You would have to pull the cover off and go/look down into the abyss to see what you have down there. Pictures are very helpful.
