Water softener discharge outside of home in the Northeast

I have a water softener that discharges outside my home. Comes out of the house, there is an elbow that takes down to a few inches below ground that elbows into an 8 foot PVC pipe that then connects with a French drain.

And tips or ideas on how to keep anything from freezing in this setup?
