A photo of the control head maybe helpful.

Also helpful would be the age of the unit, tank size or total softening capacity, and the water type (municipal or private well).

Resin tank size expressed as 9" X 48" (=1 cuft of resin), 10" X 54" (= 1.5 cuft), 12" X 52" (= 2 cuft)

Try setting the image size to low resolution as I recall this forum has a maximum image size limit.

From first view, I'm not familiar with that specific controller. Are you able to obtain pics of the back and sides?

Is water running continuously to drain?

Please post some pictures from the side and back. Fleck, Autotrol, Erie etc all make custom covers for many of their valves and their are many other valve manufacturers. I am not familiar with that cover either so without more pictures... not much I can do.

Is the "regen day" setting, how many times a day or how many days between regen?

Some components appear to be Clack but I don't recall any Clack models with the arrow buttons stacked one over the other.

This site calls your valve model an "Aqua Pro" http://www.tcwater.ca/control-valves/ I couldn't locate any info on an Aqua Pro brand control valve.

Here's a link to a Clack WS1 Service Manual: http://clackvalves.net/pdf/documents/WS1 & WS1.25 service manual.pdf

User Manual: http://clackvalves.net/p/complete-service-amp-programming-manuals/ws1-ws125-service-manual/

A residential softener would not have multiple regeneration settings for one day. Since your unit appears to be demand driven (with a water meter), the regen day setting will likely be an override setting in case you have been away and the unit has not needed to regenerate over an excessive period. If your usual requirements require a weekly regeneration, the override might be set to 10 days to force a regeneration if one hasn't occurred in a 10 day period.

Is the liquid level in the brine tank unusually high and possibly overflowing onto the ground? There maybe a drain fitting on the side or back of the brine tank where excess fluid could be draining.

How many inches of water are in your brine tank? What are the dimensions of your tank? How high is the level of salt in your tank?

Out of business.
Surprise, surprise. I'm no expert, but for "450 to 550", or close to it, I'll bet you could replace that controller with a modern, name-brand. See, for example, http://www.purewaterproducts.com/water-softeners. Size is dependent on hardness and use, however, which we don't know, and whether a softener alone is appropriate is dependent on your water chemistry, which we don't know. But, "municipal water" in this area is generally pretty good; you may not need anything fancy, but a softener would be appreciated by any woman with hair.

Clack Corp. makes proprietary front covers for many different water treatment companies. This company was rather short lived and little info is available anymore. This is a Clack valve with what appears to be a replaced (newer) control board. It can indeed regenerate several times per day if programmed that way. Although it would be rare to have one programmed as such. This has two regeneration settings; 1. Gallons (Set by the hardness setting calculated into the total capacity of unit). Your unit appears to be a 30,000 grain capacity softener. 2. Days over ride (This setting can be anything from 1 day - 30+ day over ride). So if the system does not reach it's gallon settings before the day over ride it will run the night of the over ride. If it is set for multiple daily regeneration's that gets rather complicated to explain how to re-program (highly doubtful that is the problem). I would generally set the day over ride at either 7 or 10 days. Do not replace it! This is a very good water softener and very dependable.

This link to an Impression Series by Water-Right has the manual you need.

Good luck,

You need to get into the programming mode. Push the next & down button and hold for about 5 sec. This will start the programming mode. Hit the next to advance through eash program. There is a regen frequency. If it says 1, then it will regen every day. Set it to regen every 14 days. There is another area that should read AUTO, if not, the system is set as a timer unit and not a meter unit.
