I've had my water heater for less than a year but it's making popping and crackling noises. I've drained and flushed it twice but the noises persist. What next?

thx

Forgt about it. The noise is caused by mineral "nodules" on the center flue pipe. They have small holes that water gets into them, then the hot gases super heat the water. When something changes the pressure, usually opening a faucet, the superheated water turns to steam causing a mini-explosion which is the sound you hear, Eventually the nodule breaks down or the opening gets large enough that the water is not trapped and the noise goes away

Thanks, HJ. And, by the way, I see you live in Cave Creek. I live up in the Blue Ridge area, on the Rim, and have several friends who live in CC.
