water heater location

    Sure. A gas HW heater would still need to have the sufficient clearances between the venting & combustibles, and sufficient make up air. Electric HW heaters have fewer issues like that.

    Unless the underside of the stairs was "fireproofed" a gas heater could NOT be installed there.
