Underpowered flush

I just had to snake the mainline at my house and all the water sources are flowing nicely except for the toilet in one bathroom. It has been going bad for a while. It started before the mainline problem.
I'm assuming replacing the fill valve is the next step. Is this correct?

- snaked the toilet

It would depend on what is wrong with the toilet...
How old is the toilet?
Is there a date stamped in the tank?

Try pouring a bucket of water quickly into the bowl.
Have about 2 gallons of water in the bucket when you do it.
Let us know how well it does...

I poured a bucket of about 2 gallons of water down the toilet and it all went down immediately.

Okay Is the tank water level up to the spec water line or, a bit higher?

Is the bowl refill tube that comes off the fiill valve and clips on the overflow tube in place and sending water down the tube?

Is the flapper in good condition and staying open long enough?

Take a coathanger and poke it into each of the holes under the rim in the bowl to make sure they are open and allowing water to flow when the toilet is flushed.

Are you using any in the tank bowl cleaners?

The tank water comes up to about 1/2" below the water line.
The bowl refill tube sends water down the tube.
I did the food coloring test on the flapper and no color ended up in the bowl.

Here's the part where I might be doing it wrong. I didn't see any holes under the rim. It has a sort of even rim (sort of like a lip) the appears to shoot the water out in an even pattern.

Interesting note: I have to hold the handle down extra long for a strong flush.

Increase the tank level and try replacing the flapper.

The bucket test indicates the toilet bowl and line are working okay...

The problem is in the water delivery from the tank to the bowl...

How about in tank bowl cleaners?
You don't have any of that smurf glop in the tank do you?

I replaced the flapper, the tube leading from the fill valve (it was pinched and had no give in it to open it up to allow water to properly flow), and shortened the chain. It worked perfectly. Thank you for all your help.

PS. I've always heard that those drop in cleaners clog up the little water delivery holes under the rim, so I stay away from those.
