I've got the common problem of the garbage disposal outlet not having enough clearance to the wall drain. In my case, the disposal outlet is about 3/4 inch higher than the wall drain.

It seems standard traps need more clearance than that and I'm past the point of major changes (tenant has already moved in). Also the outlet is higher than the drain so I shouldn't have standing water issues. I've currently rigged it up with 4 90deg slip fit elbows as a homemade trap. I know full well that clogs are inevitable and want to create a better solution.

It appears that UK plumbing has 1 1/2 compression running traps like the picture I've attached. Any reason why this wouldn't be sufficient? Their pipe may be different diameters than what we are used to but that probably could be overcome.

Yeah after watching some UK youtube videos its seems like they don't use the thin wall pvc that would play nice with common slip fittings. Their compression seals use two washers and look like they seal to the butt end of the pipe not the walls. I think I'm going to go with fullysprinklered's idea.
