Tub Drain Conversion

If a bathtub was put in with the old lever style drain, can it be converted to a pop-up drain style without having to get underneath the tub, everything is enclosed under.

It can be converted to a "lift and turn" pop-up drain fairly easily, but NOT one that operates with the trip lever.

Old style tub drains like the Price Phister with the lever, and two screws in the faceplate are easy enough to change.
They have kits now that replace the top overflow and the lower drain fitting.
