Have changed the flapper 2xs (one original toto flapper, one Korky) and still have a slow leak. Overnight, when water supply turned off water goes down to aprox 1"...never below that. Am attaching picture showing water down about 1/2" after turning the water back on about an hour ago. Plumber looked at it and didn't see a flapper problem and suggested waiting to see if it drained completely; we did; it didn't. Hope someone out there can help. And thank you!

You should be able to feel with your finger if the seat is rough. It does sound like the leak is between the flapper and the seat. Check the seat, and if it's smooth, put the flapper in warm water to straighten it out.

If I understand you, the water level only drops 1/2" from full mark?

If so, I'd look for a crack in the overflow tube. If the flapper was leaking, it would continue until the water emptied to the top of the flush valve seat.

No roughness around opening. Put flapper in warm water, still slow leak until only about 1" water in tank. Saw a bubble come up from the fill valve area. Could this be the problem?
