recently our GMAX filler in the tank keeps running after we flush the toilet. the flapper sits tight and then the GMAX fills the tank part way then stops, surges/stops, surges/stops, surges/stops, etc... until it reaches the full position. Question is- is this fixable or do i replace the whole mechanism? and if so with what and is it easy enough to do?

thank you!

Check the seal, and if it has crud on it, wipe it off, otherwise, it's time for a new one. Check the Korky website for a video, and if you search, it's linked in at least a few messages here on this board. No tools, quick and easy, if a new seal is required, about $3 at HD or most hardware stores.

It's the cap on the fill valve that is defective. Thee have a rubber piece inside that develops small holes. Easy and inexpensive DIY repair. You need to get a 528 cap. HD should have them.

TOTO uses at least three different fill valves in the tank.
Some are repairable, and some you just replace. A good replacement valve is the Korky 528MP
