Hi all - I've lurked long enough, and now have a few questions.

I have a bathroom in my basement, that I am remodeling. One of the previous owners installed/had installed a toilet. The flange is sitting 2 inches above the concrete floor. To make the toilet work, they propped it up on a couple of 2x4's, instead of fixing the flange.

I want to fix the flange, but not sure what to do. The flange sits inside of an elbow, that goes straight into the sanitary stack (about 30" away). The opening in the flange seems kind of small too. There looks to be reducers and the outer ring of the flange actually spins (not sure if this is normal, but doesn't seem it.

Any advice? I really don't want to chip out the concrete, so other options would be nice.

Looks like ABS going into the concrete.

If so, you can cut it flush with the concrete, clean up the inside of the ABS DWV and then use a popular push-tite flange.

No need to do any digging. I assume you'll want to tile that. The flange will sit on your tilework nicely.

Thanks for the advice. I figured that'd be the best way to do it, but the confirmation pushed me to actually do it.... I went ahead and cut it off with a hacksaw, and worked perfectly. Thanks again.
