I had some bathroom remodeling done in which I had to remove the toilet for the plumbers to work on the tub/shower. When I went to reinstall the toilet, to save on frustrations, I took two small nuts and bolted the closet bolts on to the flange so they wouldn't shift around when I was trying to lift and set the toilet in place. I've done this before and it's always worked nicely.
Anyways, I set the toilet down and started tightening the toilet to the flange. In the process of bolting the bowl down, one of the bolts started pulling up the lip of the flange. I noticed this as it never felt as if the toilet was getting tighter. It's snug, but not tight. The other bolt stayed in place on the flange and is holding the toilet securely. I stopped tightening it and left it alone. The toilet does not move or shift and does not leak at all and flushes just fine.
The flange is metal, not plastic.
Did I do some major damage to the flange? Should I just leave it alone?
Hope you can help!
