Hi - I recently installed a new floor, and I had to replace the toilet flange in the process. I have a few questions on the right way to install the flange, and I attached photos to show what I am talking about..
Photo 1 Small Gap Between Plastic Pipes - before I put the flange extension in, do I need to do anything about that 1/4 inch gap in photo 1? The pieces seem to be stuck together pretty well, but not sure if I need to seal that gap first
Photo 2 Glue Flange - I read on a few sites that putting glue or sealer around the extension prevents water from leaking in the event of a backup. Do I need to apply anything to the flange before inserting into the pipe and securing to the floor?
Photo 3 Flange Drain Width - with this new flange, the width is about 2 inches, is that sufficient or will the narrower drain cause problems with more modern toilets?
Thanks in advance.
