We just had our bathtub torn out and a new shower stall and toilet installed. I don't remember how the old drains were connected, but the plumber connected both facilities to the same drain to the sewer, When we flush the john, the shower drain gurgles loudly and when we turn on the exhaust fan you can smell a sewer smell. Was it connected properly?

Not a very helpful reply. The guy was hired by the contractor as a plumber and nothing is "forever". Any specific suggestions about the way it should have been done?
