Tile to Hardwood Transition: Where to join the two

The best place to join the hardwood and the tile for this type of transition is right under the door. To achieve a nice look you need either the tile installed to meet the hardwood or the hardwood installed to meet the tile.

My experience has shown me over the years that hardwood guys are the hardest ones to please so it's most times easier to let them do their end and then tile after.

If I may add..

when the door is closed, you should only see the room you are in's floor material. This is a finish detail that A real pro would be thinking of in advance.....

In Johns photo the door jamb is already in ...not always the case...

looking at door swing from plans and verifying jamb/door slab thickness when the carpenter will be installing the door/jamb after flooring helps a lot.. most quality tile setters will be able to figure this out....
