I'm planning out the plumbing for my new home. Water will be from a well. I intend to use a pside-kick kit. I'm wondering if I additionally need a thermal expansion tank for an 80 gallon water heater, or if the small pressure tank in the kit is sufficient to absorb any thermal expansion. Or would it make more sense to get a slightly larger pressure tank, buy the CSV separately, and skip the expansion tank. I mostly want to make sure that I budget enough space for all of the equipment I'll need for a reliable system.

As long as you do not have any check valves in the line, the 4.5 gallon tank with the Pside-Kick pump control kit will also function fine for thermal expansion.
