I already have 3" PVC for my high efficiency furnace & wondered if I could just tie into it for my fresh air & venting when I add a tankless water heater. The pipe is only 22-25 feet long before exiting the roof. It would be much easier to tie into the current piping without cutting another hole thru the roof, but wasn't sure about code restrictions.

If you did that the units would "backdraft" each other and cause untold problems. Besides the problem than NO PVC manufacurer approves their pipe for a flue system, regardless of what the heater manufacturers recommend.
