Hi all.

I've recently had my kitchen remodeled. This sink is brand new. It's 16ga. I personally haven't even used soap in it yet. The contractor had been dumping grout and mastic into it and rinsing it out. I just used Barkeeper's Friend on it for 10min, I scrubbed in the direction of the grain, rinsed, repeated. The rest of the sink looks great. I just can't figure out what this was caused by and if it is fixable. Any knowledgeable people out there with some ideas for me? Thanks for any help you may provide in advance.

"The contractor had been dumping grout and mastic into it and rinsing it out."

Really? Who dumps grout down a sink with a disposer?
Is this an undermount?
Maybe someone here has a good tip for cleaning that.

Not dumping, but just wiping pieces into it. Not loads and loads of the stuff. Yes sir, it is an undermount sink.

So a few friends have said to try Vasoline, vinegar or a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. Would any of those products damage the stainless steel?

There are specialty stainless steel cleaners such as Sheila Shine that works well for greasy fingerprints, watermarks, grease and most stains.

Glass cleaner works well for fingerprints and basic cleaning.
Stainless steel and "Scotch-brite" scouring pads work pretty good for scratches

As you said wipe in the direction of the grain (polish lines).
