What is the best placement for a smoke/CO detector in a bedroom? Ideally I would like the center of the room, however, we have a ceiling fan that also uses CFL bulbs in each of the bedrooms. All three doors for the bedrooms on the level are within four feet of each other. I have a smoke/CO detector in the short hallway, which the placement is within three feet of each bedroom door. My thought in the bedrooms would be to either place the smoke/CO detector near the door or at the opposite side of the room from the door. If I placed them all by the door in the bedroom, then I would have four smoke/CO detectors clustered within an eight foot radius.
