My shower is 32" x 32" and the current shower arm comes out 3" and then comes down at an angle. I am upgrading my shower and all of the drywall has been removed. I see the only thing holding the current shower arm is a copper right angle connector. The connector is connected to the 2x4 via two screws. If I upgrade to a Grohe 16" straight arm plus a 7" rain head do I need to upgrade how the copper right angle is attached to to 2x4? Thanks.

It depends on how heavy the parts are.
I have seen some arms that come with a reinforcement at the wall behind the escutcheon.
