I just installed a new bathroom exhaust fan in my bathroom. Now left with a gap around two of the sides of the housing.
What should I fill that gap with,to stop air leaks ?? Caulking ?? Spray foam??
And if I seal that gap will the fan work better??
Thanks
Barry

You want to seal it to keep the heated air from escaping into the attic space. If it is small enough for caulk, that works. Spray foam works too, but requires more care to manage the expansion and keeping it off places you don't want it.

I agree with cacher-chick, and would recommend you checking up on spray foam once a year to make sure it doesn't need any maintenance.

Look up "Great Stuff" by Dow. They have an entire website on it.

I've never heard of "checking up on spray foam once a year".

The proper spray foam will last longer than the rest of ceiling.

If it is fully indoors, away from any possible moisture, that would be the case, but otherwise, it's definitely a good idea to check up on it.
