I'm hoping some of the professional plumbers in Washington can set me straight on replacing a Rheem Warrior electric water heater for a manufactured home (model #81-520). Some sources say I have to use a HUD-certified manufactured home water heater, while others say I can use any water heater I want. I read that your homeowners insurance can deny an unrelated claim if they discover a non-HUD water heater in your manufactured home. OK, plumbers, can you set me straight on what the rules are? Thank you.

One page I found mentioned that you need a working PRV on the water heater.
That is true for "all" water heaters.
The other requirement is 120 degree temperature, which is the normal factory preset.
It looks to me that any standard electric off the shelf works. You do need to complete the installation by running the pressure relief line outside. or at least within six inches of the floor to prevent someone being scalded.
It's pretty easy to daylight them outside.
