Smaller pipe, high velocity, cavitation and wear (maybe minimal because of limited turns or connections), plus more friction. Maybe not much, but slower through a bigger pipe, because of the (likely) larger thickness and more robust connectors is probably cheap insurance. My unprofessional opinion.
