Here is a nice video by Jim Estrada and James Love about Insinkerator Instant Hot tanks, explaining the hows and whys of the replacement of them.
Jim Estrada is the main "go to" man of Property Inspector LLC located in Woodinville. Their business serves the greater Seattle area, Pierce, King and Snohomish counties.
Here James of Love Plumbing & Remodel is replacing a leaking tank with a new SST-FLTR tank below the counter.

I haven't installed one for a while, but the last one I installed had a "2 year extended warranty" if it was installed by an ISE registered plumber.
